I've been trying to review this one for a while but it's not easy. This album has a lot of what I like in black metal, from fast, almost brutal rocking numbers to slower, more epic compositions with a vibe that is not without reminding me of post-90s Graveland. If you take all of that stuff individually, it's pretty decently played. Where the album falls flat is that all of it put together just sounds bland and tiresome and ultimately a little boring. There's also an annoying tendency to start and end some of the songs with a few seconds of silence. Not long at all, but enough to make you check whether the album is over (and since it feels long, you do kind of want it to be over). There's a lot of good stuff in here, but it just doesn't gel. Maybe on the next one...
