The Chills is the title of the debut album of American Death Metal mongers Horrendous at the beginning of 2012. The album was very well received by the fans and media and it is no wonder; top quality, old school, Scandinavian-tinged Death Metal was well represented.
Horrendous' second album, Ecdysis, has been highly anticipated by anxious fans but now the anxiety has been killed. This 10-song affair basically continues the band's victorious Death Metal crusade and offers up a solid set of old school Death Metal that reeks of Nihilist, Carnage, Dismember, etc. Matt Know's slight Martin van Drunen imitation is the final icing on the top of this teeth-rattling Death Metal cake.
There's nothing on Ecdysis that you haven't heard before but, at the end of the day, I am certain most of us don't really want to reinvent the wheel. The phrase "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" holds so much truth. The infamous trio in Horrendous takes this phrase seriously when creating their uncompromising old school Death Metal and on Ecdysis nothing stops them doing what they love most; playing 90's, down-tuned, brutal and even melodic Death Metal straight from their hearts. If they keep doing this until the end of the world they will have collected an army of happy fans with big grins spread all over their faces on the day this world meets its final doom.
