Exhumed are one of, if not the best Carcass-torch-carriers in Death Metal, going strong off and on since the early 90s. With only one mainstay member for the entire duration, Exhumed is largely the brain-child of vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey, who knows how to pen one catchy tune. While Necrocracy isn't as vicious as Gore Metal or Slaughtercult, or as heady as Anatomy is Destiny, it makes up for it with a more Thrash-tinged assault. The album also features some of the most melodic sections ever featured on an Exhumed album, making it a bit more accessible than past works.

No worries to anyone who may fear Exhumed has gone soft though, as there are still plenty of blasts and break-neck leads. The lyrics are still twisted tales of death and depravity, and the vocal duo of Harvey and guitarist Bud Burke has lost no bite. And considering Exhumed's propensity for sitting on the catchier side of Death Metal and utilizing standard pop song structures, Necrocracy is nigh-on perfect next chapter in the blood-soaked legacy.
