I was pretty bummed when I found out that Tsjuder had split up a few years ago, even though the break up did result in Krypt, which was pretty damn decent and roughly in the same style. So I was surprised a few weeks ago to see this appear in an e-mail from Season of Mist. Peasants, rejoice! The Norwegian slaughterers have returned.

Legion Helvete is, to put it simply, what I would expect to hear from Tsjuder, albeit a bit thrashier and even catchier at times (I have the opening of "Slakt" permanently imprinted in my brain.) So yeah, overall no big surprise here, just Tsjuder being true to their roots and their sound. Fast, blasting, unrelenting Black Metal that rips through the speakers and pins you to the ground thanks to a healthy dose of crushing heaviness. Nag's raw, spiteful rasps are as nasty as ever and you can't help but (try to) "sing" along – not exactly something all that common in the genre. The guys do slow things down a bit on occasion, though the music is just as crushing.

I don't have much more to say other than this is one of those albums that I just keep playing over and over, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Welcome back.
