Descent into Chaos
Fairly standard, speedy, 80s-style Thrash Metal with harsh vocals is what Legion of the Damned's fifth studio album, Descent into Chaos, is all about. The Thrash is of the European style, similar to the likes of Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, etc. Songs like "Kill Zone" and "Repossessed" are the picks of the album, featuring some sharp, vicious choruses, but while there aren't any duds, even those two songs aren't particularly stellar. Crushing guitars, lightning quick drums and tight playing; it's all there. What's missing is any uniqueness. Descent into Chaos sounds good, but it also sounds like a myriad of other bands. Solid and well played, but generic, is how I'd sum it up. Thrash fanatics can regard this as a no-brainer purchase, while all others should expect varying mileage.
