Warriors of Greyhawk

Album number three from Seattle, Washington's Greyhawk is called Warriors of Greyhawk and finds them taking their music to a new level. There's nothing wrong with their previous albums, but everything here is just better, from the songwriting, which is punchy and energetic, to the vocalist who really takes flight this time, backed by some awesome shouted choruses, to the guitarists who deliver a whole pile of acrobatic solos. I'd be remiss if I didn't call out the rhythm section for providing an absolutely pounding foundation. The real stars are the songs, whether Greyhawk are delivering ass-kicking traditional heavy metal in the vein of Visigoth on "Ascension" or "Warriors of Greyhawk" or making us remember how awesome Iron Savior's Condition Red album was with power metal anthems like "Land of Ashes," "Endless Race" or "Hyperspace." The guys who wrote this stuff were completely dialed in. If you liked Greyhawk before, you are in for a real treat, and if you haven't heard them yet and you like traditional and power metal, do not hesitate to grab a copy of Warriors of Greyhawk. Highly recommended.
