Greyhawk is a new band from Seattle, Washington in the Pacific Northwest US and on their debut EP, Ride Out, are mining a vein of '80s metal that sounds pretty sweet to these ears. Greyhawk have a fat guitar sound and steady bass work underpinning their anthemic choruses and solid lead work. Some of the songs lean more toward metal ("The Abdication") while others have a rocking vibe ("Ride Out") but they are all rough and loud with zero fucks given to the idea of trying to chase current trends. Nope, this is old school all the way and rocks hard and heavy, right down to the awesomely cheesy cover art with the biker riding a flaming chopper. An excellent first effort from Greyhawk that should work nicely if you like music that stretches from old Judas Priest to new Visigoth.
