Aldaaron play some mountain-themed pagan black metal on this album, which is a mix of fast and violent black metal and slower, melancholic music that's well in line with the thematic. The screechy rasps, for lack of a better term, are rather aggressive and angry in the delivery, and there are some good clean vocals popping up here and there. More often than not, I'm not a fan of clean vocals with such music, but what the band did here works really well. The black metal is akin to the second wave mixed with the melodic sound of the French scene at the turn of the century. I'm usually not big on pagan black metal, but Aldaaron did not overdo it on this album, so if like me you like it in small doses, this well-played, varied album will do the trick.
