This German band is still so new, they don't have an entry at Metal Archives as I write this review, but I'm sure that will be rectified forthwith. On their debut EP, Ancient Sword Cult, they unleash five tracks of pure, epic steel which combine the galloping riffs and catchiness of Iron Maiden and the NWOBHM and the fantastical lyrical themes, occult atmospheres, and distinct vocals of Manilla Road and Warlord. I'm throwing out some big names and I wouldn't put Writhen Hilt at that level after one EP, but if the songs here are any indication, the sky is the limit for this band. If you like any of the bands I noted or their styles in general, get on the bandwagon now.
