Those of the Catacombs

This was the debut from Italian band Scolopendra, and this is, as I expected, a more primitive dose of their already primitive sound. This band is not Death Metal in the modern sense, but much more about the old days when Thrash first congealed into proto-Death like Hellhammer, Venom, and early Sodom. This sounds a lot more thrashy than their follow-up, and the raspy-corpse vocals are a more trad sound for bands of this type, but this is still a riffing, crunching good time.
