Scolopendra is a couple of guys from Abhor indulging in some old-fashioned Death/Thrash rifforama. This is nominally Death Metal, but it is far too retro for that comparison alone, as the songs here are built on very Trad Metal riffs that remind me of old Sodom or Coven, with a meaty sound and a tube-amp quality to the production. The vocals are a reptilian croaking style that almost sounds like Abbath in the old days. So this is not clickety-click Death Metal, but protean, primal stuff that's not trying to be technical at all. There's nothing polished about this, but it is a whole lot of fun.
