Sinner have been around for some 35 years and have the number of releases to show for it. Not all of their albums have been all that good, though. Santa Muerte sees the band adding a second permanent vocalist, Giorgia Colleluori, and, on top of that, the title track has two guest vocalists: Ricky Warwick (Thin Lizzy, Black Star Riders) and Ronnie Romero (Ritchie Blackmore“s Rainbow).

From a technical point of view, this album is very well played and certainly showcases experienced musicianship and songwriting. It has a very strong commercial vibe to it, the metal serving what are largely hard rock-ish songs that are often so cheesy that they'll make you sick if you're not in the mood for that stuff. The overall album is quite accessible and can certainly cater to a rock-friendly crowd, which makes it a bit of a disappointment if you were expecting something more akin to Sinner's best metal output. If you're looking for '80s Sinner, that's where you will have to go look, because Santa Muerte is not it.
