Sanhedrin is a Brooklyn, NY-based trio that plays doomy, old school heavy metal on their debut, A Funeral for the World. There are faster cuts like "Riding on the Dawn" and slower ones like "A Funeral for the World" but it is the mid-paced material that is this band's bread and butter. As musicians they have some decent chops and singer Erica Stoltz has the makings of a strong front woman. She possesses some charisma to go with a strong voice. In general, the songwriting is solid but other than the raucous "Demoness," nothing sticks around much once the album is finished. There's value though, especially for fans of Dio, Iron Maiden and early Candlemass.
