This is a new band that has sprung up, with an album release after just a year or so of existence. This is epic, atmospheric Black Metal very much in the vein of bands like Saor, Caladan Brood, or Summoning. The songs are long, set off by genuine tin whistles and piano interludes and fueled by big riffs and a lot of keys. The vocals are a rather dry rasp, and I have to say they don't really add anything to the music, but they get the job done. The sound is big and expansive, but maybe not as compelling as it could be. If you have heard Guardians or Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame, they you have heard everything this band is reaching for. They do this kind of thing perfectly well, but the music does not really sound inspired, or hit any kind of highs. It evokes an atmosphere, but not much drama. It's well played, well produced, and enjoyable, but it's also more than a bit safe and derivative.
