Seven Kingdoms hails from Florida though you'd never know it from listening to their music. The sharp, crunchy Power Metal these Floridians bring to the table sounds like it's fresh from Europe and quite frankly it kicks major ass. I'm picking up the thread with their In the Walls EP released in advance of their fourth album due in early 2017. In the Walls features two new songs and two re-recorded tracks from earlier in the band's discography and if they are any indication, album number four should have fans of Oratory, Xandria, etc. throwing as many fists in the air as they can muster. "In the Walls" is a barn-burner with double-kick drums providing plenty of speed, outstanding guitar work and beautiful vocals featuring a supremely catchy chorus. This is the kind of song I'd play for someone that asked me what Power Metal is supposed to sound like. The other new song, "Undying," is also very good though not on the same level as "In the Walls." "Stormborn" and "The Bloody Meadow" originally appeared on the Brothers of the Night album and get an update here.

All I could think of while listening to In the Walls was a harder, faster yet still as beautifully melodic version of Oratory's Beyond Earth. I'm excited to hear the new album and if you have even a passing fancy for well-done Power Metal, you should be, too.
