Evil Triumphs Again

Bonehunter is a Finnish band going in for the Black/Thrash resurgence currently underway. After a number of demos, splits, EPs and live releases, Hells Headbangers has released the band's debut full-length Evil Triumphs Again. The riffs are melodic, keeping to the path of early Venom but the vocals are much harsher, more in the mold of early Bathory. There's an undercurrent of sex in the lyrics ("Acid Fuck" "Succubus") not unlike Barbatos, a band Bonehunter has covered on prior releases. The most memorable thing about Evil Triumphs Again is the energy, which is high, but the songwriting isn't at the same level. That combination of attributes means Evil Triumphs Again is a decent but not mandatory release for fans of Venom, Barbatos, Toxic Holocaust, etc.
