Killers is a prolific band, releasing albums regularly for 30 years now. 2015 sees not only the release of this new album, but also a reissue of Mauvaises graines and ...Fils de la haine (a remastered 30th anniversary edition.) With Killers, you're pretty much guaranteed to find an album that's at the very least decent. Le baiser de la mort is more than decent; just like their releases of the past few years, it's some pounding, fast, heavy, melodic Heavy Metal that also incorporates some Power Metal elements. The drums are fast and borrow quite a bit from the Power Metal genre, while the guitars are a mix of that and good old-school Heavy Metal, which makes for a lot of variety throughout the album. The vocals, sung in French – despite the name, the band only has one album sung in English – are not of the very clean kind, but rather they convey a bit of an anguished tone and in fact sound quite visceral. Apart enough from the norm to be an acquired taste.
This is another very good album from these Frenchmen who show here that they still have what it takes. Recommended, just like the rest of their discography.
