I would have sworn, looking at this, that this would be a Greek band, but no. Disarm Goliath are a British band who have actually been around for a long-ass time, as they put out their first demo in '95, and their first album was way back in '99. I have no idea what that album sounded like, but this one is pretty cool.
Disarm Goliath play a stripped-down style of metal that reminds me of Brocas Helm a bit, with a glossier sound and a cleaner overall approach. The riffs are solid, the vocals are solid, and some of the leads are quite strong. I find this enjoyable overall, but Disarm Goliath don't really go very far towards establishing any kind of real identity. A lot of these songs sound quite a bit alike and they all have kind of a similar speed and feel. Vocalist Steve Bell has a powerful voice, but not much texture or personality, and his vocal lines won't really stick with you. This band also has a very British tendency to repeat themselves too much, so the choruses get beaten into the ground.
I feel like I'm damning this with faint praise, when really I like it fine, it's just pretty generic in its way, and doesn't really linger once it's over. Solid but unremarkable.
