The Black Sabbath Story Volume One
This first volume of the Black Sabbath story covers the Ozzy years, from 1970 to 1978. Each song is preceeded by comments from various band members, the "short and sweet" type, without going into too much details but very interesting nonetheless. The songs are from various concert, TV and promo video footage, some that I had never seen before - it's always interesting to see how things were over 30 years ago. The Paranoid video is the black and white Belgian TV footage and has been presented on video music channels for many years - yeah, the one with some kind of turning wheels in the walls - or whatever the hell those things were. Interesting enough, the song is now some 33 years old and still kicks some serious ass!
The segment lasts about an hour, then you get the bonus features. The most interesting is the "Band History", where various members of the band and its entourage describe the band's history. The most interesting by far is their manager's narrative who goes on to explain how he came in contact with the band, and the struggles to get the band signed in the first place.
The "Album Gallery" contains only the albums from the Ozzy years - i.e. from Black Sabbath to Technical Ecstasy.
Of the two DVD volumes of the Black Sabbath Story, this is by far the best one, very well put together and once you start watching it, it's difficult to stop. If you can only buy one of the two volumes, go for this one. Highly recommended.
