This is pretty much what I expect out of 'depressive' Black Metal: long songs, slow playing, and bleak vocals. This kind of thing can be done well - sometimes very well - but I find Photophobia rather one-note. The guitars grind along, the vocals howl at the same pitch throughout, and the whole thing describes no kind emotional arc whatsoever - it starts at the bottom, and there is nothing to distinguish any one part from another. It's not bad, but it gets old fast.
