Eens Weer Prevaleert Het Heidens Hart

This is Pagan Black Metal in the purest sense of the term: tremolo riffing, a haunting atmosphere evocative of fog-shrouded forests and killing frosts, and quite a bit of melody worked into the compositions. Most of the songs on here are lengthy, working around the 6-7 minute mark, giving the songs time to build up a food head of steam. The riffs are good, and some of the melodies are quite good. That said, there is a prevalence of clean vocals on the second half of the album, and they are just not that good - not really bad, but too weak for how much they are used. The guitar tone is a bit thin, and none of the tunes here are really standouts. This is an enjoyable album, but it won't really grab you.
