This is the fourth album from Ukrainian band Khors, whose re-released first two albums I reviewed not long ago. I found their early works competent but undistinguished, and this isn’t a whole lot different.

This album is obviously highly influenced by Negura Bunget and other, similar bands who mix folky acoustic work with their post-metal inflected music. This is almost entirely devoid of traditional Black Metal sounds except for the raspy vocals, which now do nothing but hinder the band. The riffs are open and smooth, the guitar tone is dry, and the acoustic bits are well-played and mellow. I don’t find this offensive or anything, but it doesn’t really manage to create much interest, and before you know it the whole album has flown by without leaving one thing you can remember. Non-essential, but good for background music.
