Portrait, a decidedly non-evilly named band, wears their satanic leanings on their sleeves. Metaphorically, of course, in reality they wear them around their necks in the form of upside down crosses. Old school, raw Heavy Metal is on display on this two song single from High Roller Records.

"The Murder of All Things Righteous" b/w "Son of All Graves" are quite similar sounding songs. There's nothing too unique in Portrait's twin guitar attack and none of the performances are out of the ordinary. Singer Per Karlsson has an irritating predilection for singing in the higher registers, something his voice can't accommodate. As a result, he sounds like he's straining for most of the 6 minutes of each song.

There's nothing here to make you run out and buy this single. If raw, simplistic Heavy Metal with screechy vocals is your thing, you can safely wait for a Portrait full-length that will more than likely include both of these songs.
