This was the second release for Gorgoroth, put out just as the first flood-tide of the Scandinavian BM scene was receding. I hesitate to even call this an album, as it's only 25 minutes long - barely EP length. But then Gorgoroth have almost never managed to produce a long album, so this is pretty much par.
Overall, this is not as enjoyable as their debut "Pentagram", as it's much more standard and not as old-school sounding. The riffage is solid, and the guitar tone is cool, but the sound is less chunky and I hear less of the first wave influence than I did on the killer debut. The songwriting is a bit more advanced, but the approach is much busier, so sometimes the subtlety gets lost in the wall of noise. The last track "Sorg" has the best riffs and a slower, heavier groove than the rest of the disc, which is good but rather faceless. Short, and not good enough to make up for that entirely.
