Glasya is a female-fronted symphonic/power metal band out of Portugal and Fear is their third album. Fans of this crowded slice of the power metal pie will be on familiar footing, as Glasya follow well-established norms, including operatic singing with occasional harsh, "beast" counterpoint singing, neo-classical playing, buckets of catchy hooks and a production that is clear, glossy and lets every instrument shine. There's a bit of spoken-word storytelling throughout Fear which reminds me of Ancient Bards and the vocals have a Nightwish vibe, though nothing Glasya is doing reaches the bar those bands have set. Even if Fear isn't anything you haven't likely heard before, if you enjoy female-fronted symphonic/power metal, you should be able to find plenty to like about it.
