Third classic reissue for Hexenhaus, with yet another singer (according to Metal Archives), Awakening is an improvement over The Edge of Eternity, and sees the band sounding a little more accessible, with clean, powerful vocals, and a style that borrows more from traditional heavy metal. The vocals are definitely a departure from the previous two albums, more melodic and powerful than the aggressive, thrashier style of yore. The guys are still working on the technical side of thrash, and the songs aren't all that memorable, though there's a lot to like while they're on. Awakening is not as in-your-face as its predecessors and with Hexenhaus pretty much leaving straightforward thrash behind and going all in with their technical approach, is likely to please aficionados of the subgenre even more.
