Wreathed in Dead Angels

A nice little drive-by aural carnage by way of this 21-minute EP from these veterans of the U.S. black metal scene. I'd prefer a new full-length but, hey, I'll take it. ;) This is Profanatica through and through, with a raw delivery and a bit of a lo-fi sound that gives Wreathed in Dead Angels a muddy and dark vibe, as if they needed to sound more evil. No gimmicks, no bullshit, nothing fancy, just in-your-face straightforward black metal with a hint of death metal popping up here and there. There's no song that really stands out and, in the end, it's all kind of monotonous and a blur, but not in a bad way; it's there, it's good while it's on and doesn't leave much of a mark afterwards, but there's always that Play button you can press to repeat the process.
