"Sivyj Yar" is a transliteration of the original Cyrillic name, which I cannot find a meaning for, but eh. This is actually the eighth album by this project in a career that goes back to 2006. If you close your eyes and think of what "Atmospheric Pagan Metal" from Russia should sound like, this is that. Similarities to bands like Fen, Drudkh, or even Wolves in the Throne Room abound with long songs, tremolo riffing, and a lot of effort put into the atmosphere, which doesn't always pay off. I enjoyed this, but I probably won't come back to it, because it's pretty bland for this kind of music.
