Sacrifice were stalwarts of the Canadian Thrash scene back in the day, but they haven't released anything new for sixteen years. Their last one, The Ones I Condemn from 2009, was a ferally heavy slab of modern Thrash, but it didn't have a lot of staying power for me, which points to a certain lack in the songwriting department.
This is a classic lineup album that almost counts as a re-introduction to the band. If you were worried that Sacrifice have slowed down, put that out of your mind, because this is the same kind of high-octane stuff the band always played. The recording job is sharper and more powerful than in the old days, but the riff-style and songwriting are unchanged. This is viciously heavy and has a lot of energy, but it's not doing anything really exciting. If you like classic Thrash, then this will hit the spot, but it does exactly what you expect and nothing else.
