It takes little imagination to look at the band name and cover art for this record and come up with "power metal." Nova Atlantis is the third album from France's Kingcrown, a band I'd never heard of prior to this one. They play not the overly flowery style of Rhapsody of Fire or countrymen Heavenly, but one more aligned with bands like Masterplan. As you would expect, the sound is good, the musicians put all the notes in the right places, etc. but Nova Atlantis is such a cookie-cutter release that it could have come from any one of dozens of bands playing music like this today. It is perfectly fine while on and power metal fans aren't going to find a lot of flaws, but by the same token probably have plenty of similar-sounding releases in their collections already that Nova Atlantis is unlikely to displace.
