Nova Atlantis

This is a band put together by two brothers who used to be in French stalwarts Nightmare—vocalist Joe Amore was the vocalist for Nightmare for like 15 years—and this is a similar stripe of Melodic Metal that leans more into Euro Power Metal than anything more traditional. You look at the cover and you expect soaring choruses, double-bass runs, keyboards, and somewhat unmemorable songwriting—which is what you get. There are similarities to bands like Rhapsody or Stratovarius, but that's just because the sound of this is really pretty generic. Strong songwriting can still carry stuff like this, but here it's just adequate. Unless you are a Power Metal junkie, you can safely skip this one.
