This is a reissue of Vulcano's 1990 album, one of a few High Roller Records is releasing this year. Ratrace is somewhat chaotic and raw thrash for the time, steering clear of the more melodic and clean approach to the genre that most of the big names were playing at the time. The vocals often sound like a little bark, for lack of a better comparison, and even though I find them a little annoying, they fit the music pretty well. I like how raw and kind of minimalistic this sounds, but even back in the day I wouldn't have considered this particularly remarkable. The album has its moments, with a few catchy passages that get the headbanging going, but once it's over, well, it's over. Not essential, but not bad either.
