Agent of Chaos

Costa Rica's Shadows Decay is one of many bands rooted in old-school thrash, but they don't limit themselves to just rehashing the past and throw in a few curve balls on this EP. This is a heavy one with a raw, powerful sound that saturates the speakers and makes them beg for mercy. The vocals are harsh/clean but aggressive enough and make it easy to decipher the lyrics for the most part. There's some straightforward traditional heavy metal riffage and soloing going on here, so you'll want to get your air guitar close by when you put this on. Overall the music is groovy and the melodies are very catchy. It's aggressive but not too much, which might make this more accessible to some, though we're nowhere close to commercial territory here. If you like your thrash leaning on the straightforward, catchy heavy metal side, then this is definitely worth checking out.
