Savage Dawn
These Spaniards sure know how to channel the might of the NWOBHM bands' raw and dirty heavy metal, coupled with early speed/thrash to get the blood pumping like there's no tomorrow. Melodic, catchy, yet aggressive, heavy and in-your-face, with razor-sharp guitars and drumming that'll shake the walls, Savage Dawn really comes off like an early to mid-80s album with a modern production, which thankfully doesn't take away the raw, garage-like sound that the band has been sporting for years. The vocals remind me a bit of Tank, but a little Lemmy-esque and more aggressive. Some of the guitar reminds me of Maiden, though it is Tank that comes to mind most often, when it's not moving into thrashier and speedier territory. It's been done before, but Iron Curtain's raw, razor-sharp delivery puts them a little above the crowd. Hold on to your hat, this is a wild ride.
