A highly interesting second album from this Canadian band. Liminal Shroud take sounds from more expansive Black Metal bands like Drudkh or Fen and weld it to some fine melodic riffing and an Agalloch-like sense of melancholy. I even hear a bit of the more progressive tendencies of Woods of Ypres in the mix here, and the whole makes for an innovative sound that is definitely Black Metal, but also has a lot of twists and turns, making for a listening experience where you cannot predict what you will hear next. A proficient and refreshing album from a band to watch.
