Hymns from the Deep

This was originally released in 2020 on I Hate Records, and I only have this promo now because Avantgarde is doing a vinyl reissue. Make of that what you will. However, this is actually a solid album of Funeral Doom. Too often when Doom bands try to do the funeral thing, they just slow down without adding tension and atmosphere, but Khazad-dûm are not one of those, and this is an album of real compositions that are long for a reason rather than just being long, slow songs that wield mood and rising tension like siege weapons, and satisfying heaviness leavened with keys and chanted, choral vocals in among the growls. Obviously a concept about the Mines of Moria, this has a real sense of majesty and fallen grandeur that entirely fits the theme.
