Now that's the stuff. I liked Bewitcher's 7", Too Fast for the Flame, a couple of years ago, but that was way too short. Now we have a new album (looks like I skipped one) and, simply put, it rocks. The band blends black, thrash and speed metal and seasons it with a healthy dose of plain old rock 'n' roll. This makes what could be "evil" music actually sound like a hell of a lot of fun. I'm reminded a little bit of what Wizzard were doing some 20 years ago, though this rocks more and the music is more raw and old school. There is a very strong early '80s vibe here, taking cues from underground bands that played it fast, loose and had fun creating catchy music without pretence. The vocals are of the early Venom school, which is a perfect fit for the sound the band is going for. Cursed Be Thy Kingdom is, simply, a fun speed/thrash album with just enough black metal evilness to keep it real, and it will rock your socks off.
