Black Sun Shall Rise
So nice to see Moribund getting this back in print. Released in 2002, this is the last proper release from this very kvlt US band, and since songwriter/often sole bandmember Tchort died in 2006, there's not going to be another one. Developing on the very underground debut, this is an album that is more developed and polished, but not too much so.
After all, you could not clean this sound up too much without taking all the cool out of it. WotBM were an intensely underground band, very much in the classic vein of USBM, and this album definitely does not stray from that. The riffs are good, the guitar sound is better than last time, and the songwriting is a bit more organized. That said, this is still very DIY-sounding, chaotic music, you can just hear the chaos better this time out. This doesn't have the malign insanity of the debut, but it's superior in other ways. Worthy.
