Acathexis present some cold, dark and haunting black metal on this self-titled album. Musically it's really nothing you haven't heard before (if I had $10 for every time I've written this, I could buy my own country), basically a wall of Scandinavian black metal so, if that's your thing, it's a safe bet. What makes this good is the atmosphere that the band convey here. It's dark and depressing, crushing and sometimes even overwhelming if you're in the right (or wrong?) mood. The discreet keyboards in the background and the occasional short melodic breaks just serve to amplify the effect. A bit of a mindfuck, in a good way.
