I keep kind of hoping Ravensire will step up and make a real monster of an album, but instead they keep making good ones, which I suppose should be good enough. This is the third album from the band bassist/vocalist Rick Thor formed after he left Ironsword, and it sees them still in the groove. The riffs are solid, and the production is better this time. Rick's vocals are still kind of a rough spot, as while he is very much doing the Omen/Ironsword rough-but-tuneful thing, he also puts a lot of vibrato on his voice, which sounds weird. The songwriting is good enough, even if there's nothing extraordinary about it. If you like this school of metal, then this album will hit the spot, I just keep hoping for this band to do better.
