Burn Up the Dead is really not unlike being run over by a train. Mortor's brand of death/thrash is hard-hitting, pedal-to-the-metal, with death growls that sound as hard and "jumpy" as the music. The entire album is headbangable; it's unrelentingly fast and catchy in its own way. Just like Maiden have their trademark galloping sound, Mortor have a style that feels, well, "jumpy", as I mentioned earlier. You really have to hear it as I'm having a hard time finding the right word for it. One listen to this and it's going to stick in your head. When the music slows down a bit, it's a little more melodic, but that's just a short reprieve before the band comes out with all guns blazing again. There's a lot going on here, so multiple listens are warranted as something new catches the ear every time. Mortor play harder and faster than many death/thrash bands and are close to straight-out death metal than most. Good stuff.
