Apostle of Solitude are a band who have been knocking around for a while, but I have not been following their career. This is a very traditional Doom band with a refreshing amount of heaviness and reverb in the guitars, and they seem to remember that a good guitar sound is kind of important. The riffs here are better than the songs overall, and the good riffage and sometimes really outstanding lead playing sails this band past a lot of drawbacks. The songs don't break any kind of ground, and pretty much sound like retreads from bands like Pale Divine or Forsaken. Singer/songwriter Chuck Brown has a good, clear voice, but he doesn't really conjure any good melodies, and just kind of follows along with the music. This is decent, but it's not going to wow you.
