Faster than Fire
Damn. I downloaded this promo without expecting too much, but this short EP has been kicking my ass for a few days now. This L.A. bunch sounds like it came straight out of the mid-80s and, NO, I do not mean glam. This is heavy metal delivered with the youthful, no-holds-barred attitude that was so common back then. Faster than Fire is catchy as hell, so much so that it could draw in some people from the non-metal crowd. Not that it's commercial, but it's just that catchy that it's hard to resist for anyone into "rock and above." Some of the melodies remind me a little bit of very early Def Leppard, delivered with the U.S. metal touch. They have this early 80s, late NWOBHM vibe mixed with aggressive, crunchy, pounding heavy metal. The sound has a bit of a rough, DIY feel to it that is just like icing on the cake. Loving this...
