Through the Walls of Flesh

Swedish deathrashers Entrench, formed in 2005, have come a long way by sticking to their guns for the last 12 years. They have been firmly trusting the sound of early Destruction, early Possessed, Hell Awaits-era Slayer and even early Death (mainly the Leprosy era). With three full-length studio albums under their belt, Entrench don't show any signs of slowing down or polishing their weapons in terms of becoming a more "radio-friendly" mainstream Metal act.

These Swedes have indeed created the kind of sound that is a replica of some of the most violent and evil sounding early Metal bands of the early/mid-eighties. On this album, the band is on (hell-)fire, churning out a sweetly savage and enjoyably ripping mix of ballsy Thrash and proto-Death Metal, and doing so with style. They keep their sound simple (yes, less is actually more sometimes), straightforward, and shamelessly 80s tinged. It's the kind of album that could have been recorded when Destruction, Slayer, Possessed, etc., were at the top of their evil games, playing faster, harsher, and harder. It worked for them, and it works for Entrench too. Great old-school Thrash/proto-Death Metal stuff on here!
