Fallen Angel of Doom

Canada's Blasphemy initially released Fallen Angel of Doom back in 1990 and Nuclear War Now! Productions is giving it a chance to rear its ugly, horned head once again in 2015. The album is a thick slice of the devil's own with croaking vocals, lightning-fast drumming and guitars that blend into an incessant buzz. All the songs sound a lot like each other and the only thing that separates any from the pack are the effects like the demonic tone at the beginning of "Goddess of Perversity." Occasionally a distinct riff or solo will bubble to the top of the malevolent miasma of sound but for the most part Fallen Angel of Doom is a spirit-crushing drone. That's probably the point of a release like this but when your effects are more interesting than your songs I think you need to adjust the formula, and that's my beef with Fallen Angel of Doom. Blasphemy is for the hard-core Black/Death fans only which is probably how they wanted it anyway.
