South America has always been fertile ground for worthwhile bands and Chile's Houndz of Hate doesn't buck that rule. Houndz of Hate's weapon is Thrash Metal, the melodic kind, which they've been wielding as their instrument for musical mass destruction since forming in 2010.

In 2012 they self-released their debut album Classic Death and two years later followed the 4-track EP, Deus Lo Vult. Unlike many other Chilean Thrash Metal bands that really get their blood boiling with aggressive and mean-sounding music, Houndz of Hate is surprisingly melodic and fearlessly incorporates some more traditional elements into their songs. For instance, the song called "Last Minute" has some nice experimental guitar parts at the beginning and the end. The three other songs are in a more Thrash Metal gear but at the same time they also bathe in melody, more than what your typical Dr. Thrash would order anyway. Vocalist/guitarist Marco Suarez' singing fits their style, though he really doesn't sound anything like a Russ Anderson (Forbidden) or a Mark Osegueda (Death Angel).

Houndz of Hate is a cool band, so by all means check them out if more melodic Thrash Metal is your cup of tea.
