Brazil's Slasher plays a standard form of American-influenced Thrash with mainly Death Metal vocals on their second album, Katharsis. There's plenty of aggression from both the vocals and the music even if the riffs and songwriting stick to tried-and-true formulas. Most of the tracks fall into the "nice while they are on but not particularly memorable" category with the exception of the closer "All Covered in Blood." Whereas the majority of the album is an unwavering mix of Testament and Pantera, "All Covered in Blood" adds a spoken intro and some clean vocals over a slower intro giving it a "The Thing That Should Not Be" atmosphere. Whether or not this floats your boat, I give the band credit for pushing the envelope a bit. Fans of Death/Thrash like Destroy, Destroy, Destroy and Goatwhore should get some decent mileage from Katharsis but it isn't an essential release.
