Sweden's death dealing rotting corpses Stench (featuring two members of Tribulation) have come to the point when it's time to unleash the band's second album, Venture. Stench have wisely decided to stay away from your typical Stockholm Death Metal sound but concentrate more on experimenting between Death and Black Metal, much like Tribulation does. Even if Stench may sound very simple, at times, in fact they are pretty far from simple. With a relatively minimal sound arsenal these three Swedish blokes have managed to create a fascinating soundscape on Venture by combining harsh Death/Black Metal with surprisingly experimental, progressive and even adventurous moments. The connection to Tribulation's The Formulas of Death is quite noticeable. And no, there's nothing wrong with that. At least Stench tried for something a bit more original on Venture and they have succeeded respectably well.
Venture does not really start any musical revolutions within the Death/Black Metal genre but it's still a very good and enjoyable record. I will be following their comings and goings in the future.
