Exorcism is another of the increasingly ominpresent Csaba Zvekan's bands (Raven Lord and a host of others he is no longer active with) and he, along with frequent collaborator, guitarist Joe Stump, has come up with I Am God. Whereas the pairs' Raven Lord output is strictly Traditional Heavy Metal, I Am God has a decided Doom feel, though it is a more modern take on the style.
After listening to I Am God several times here is how I picture it being put together; step 1, down tune the guitars, step 2, write some riffs and licks that all sound similar to one another, step 3, add a pinch or squeal at the end of each measure, step 4, repeat. I'm not going to diminish Zvekan's talent as a singer, though it sounds like there are a lot of effects on his vocals, or Stump's as a guitarist, but I Am God is bland. Zvekan growls and throws a lot of menace into his performance and Stump's solos are always entertaining, even when his riffs aren't, while rhythm section members Lucio Manca (bass) and Gary King (drums) provide a solid foundation for the mostly mid-tempo songs but no one does anything exceptional. If I had to give a point of reference it would be Black Sabbath's Dehumanizer (including the underwhelming nature of that album) and Ozzy's No More Tears.
I don't hate I Am God but I can't really come up with any reason to go back to it, either.
