Germany's Greydon Fields plays music that is Heavy Metal at its base but adds some Thrash and Modern Metal elements. Their self-released debut, Room With a View, has that angry vibe you get from many of today's Thrash bands, like Hatriot and Anger as Art, but it also strays dangerously close to bands like Disturbed, in spots. If this was balls-out Thrash, I'd like it a whole lot better but the forced vocals just bring to mind the self-loathing of "metalcore," even though that isn't necessarily what Greydon Fields sing about ("To the Sea" is about Moby Dick, a decidedly non-metalcore topic). There's nothing really wrong with any of the songs but none do a very good job sticking in your head, either. Room With a View is just kind of "there," not surprising considering it is an independent release, but it doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation for Greydon Fields' next release.
